The California Future of Abortion (FAB) Council steering committee and the California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom (CCRF) have issued a statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. FDA. The decision temporarily preserves access to mifepristone via mail and at pharmacies while the legal challenge continues.
In response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision, CCRF and the FAB Council Steering Committee issued the following statement:
"The California Future of Abortion Council and the California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom are committed to protecting the rights and health of every person in California and those seeking abortion care in our state. We are relieved that mifepristone can continue to be dispensed at pharmacies and through mail for now, but we know the attacks are not over. Previous rulings in this case disregard decades of evidence proving the safety and efficacy of mifepristone and are part of a larger attempt by the anti-abortion movement to restrict reproductive care nationwide, causing undue harm to both patients and providers. This ruling isn’t a permanent “win” - and this case is just one example of concurrent, egregious attacks attempting to strip away access to medication abortion. As anti-abortion politicians continue to push forward oppressive policies, our fight continues to protect and expand access to abortion in California.
