CCRF Statement on SCOTUS Decision Overturning Roe v. Wade
June 24, 2022
Many of us awoke to the official SCOTUS decision overturning Roe v Wade. This ruling eliminated an almost 50-year precedent that afforded birthing people the right to essential health care. We are devastated and angry but not surprised or helpless.
As we process this horrendous attempt to control anyone with a uterus, we must also remain diligent. The fight is not over! Reproductive Rights advocates and freedom fighters around our nation will continue to work tirelessly to protect those who need abortions as well as abortion providers and clinics in our communities.
Our basic human right to abortion and necessary sexual and reproductive health care should have never been up for debate. Our anger, sadness, and disappointment are all valid. We want to remind you to stay safe and take care of yourself. We must individually and collectively do heartwork to sustain ourselves over the course of this long-term battle.
Below is a list of resources and action items you can partake in. We will continue to share resources, learning spaces, and opportunities to engage.
